Michael J. Liccar & Co. is a licensed,
full service public accounting firm which specializes exclusively in the
securities/futures industry. The firm is primarily comprised of Certified
Public Accountants with extensive experience in the industry as well as
numerous academic and professional achievements. We currently serve a wide
variety of Hedge Funds, Commodity Pools, Private Investment Funds, Commodity
Trading Advisors, Registered Investment Advisors, Broker/Dealers, Futures
Commission Merchants and Introducing Brokers.
In the United States, virtually anyone can try to provide accounting,
administration and tax services without professional designations or special
licensing. However, as a CPA firm, we are subject, as a member firm, to the
American Institute of CPAs (“AICPA”) and the Illinois CPA Society.
Accordingly the firm is required to periodically undergo a rigorous peer
review examination which is administered by the AICPA. Moreover, as a state
licensed CPA firm, we are subject to the authority of the Department of
Professional Regulation of the State of Illinois and our CPA staff is
required to complete at least 80 hours of continuing professional education
every two years.
Our staff has expertise in all areas of securities/futures accounting, tax,
systems and regulatory matters. Our client accounts are serviced primarily
by experienced CPAs and MBAs who are well versed in such matters. The firm
combines a unique blend of professionals with significant public accounting
backgrounds as well as actual operational experience as former Chief
Financial Officers/Controllers, regulatory auditors or senior accounting
staff for futures/securities firms. We maintain ongoing working
relationships with senior representatives of the Commodity Futures Trading
Commission, the National Futures Association, National Association of
Securities Dealers, various commodities and securities exchanges, as well as
other regulatory organizations.
Our depth of experience allows us to provide a broad array of services from
monthly net asset value accounting for funds, financial statement
compilations and performance records to tax return preparation, due
diligence procedures and certified audits.
Our business model allows us to easily scale our services to specifically
meet each client’s needs. Our client financial reporting can be easily
customized. Since we typically charge on an hourly basis (and not on “basis
points”), our fund clients find that we are a very economical solution to
their fund accounting and administration needs, particularly as the size of
their funds continue to grow. Our staff size allows us to provide prompt,
professional service from experienced securities/futures accountants.
Through our affiliate, Genesis Fund Services, Ltd., located in Nassau,
Bahamas, we can also arrange for complete offshore fund administration and
transfer agent services. Genesis is fully licensed as an Unrestricted Mutual
Fund Administrator by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas and as a
Financial Corporate and Service Provider by the Registrar of Financial
Corporate and Service Providers of the Bahamas.
