Senior Tax Accountant

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team in downtown Chicago, IL.

We are a licensed boutique; full service public accounting firm specializing exclusively in the securities/futures industry with a diverse global clientele. Primarily comprised of experienced CPAs and MBAs, we currently serve a wide variety of Hedge Funds, Commodity Pools, Private Investment Funds, Commodity Trading Advisors, Registered Investment Advisors, and Broker/Dealers as well as assist clients with Introducing Brokers and Futures accounting, fund administration, tax, systems and regulatory matters.

Job Description:

Due to our continuous growth, we are seeking a detail-oriented tax professional who possesses an in-depth knowledge of partnership taxation and has some experience dealing with high-net-worth individuals to successfully perform the following responsibilities and duties:

Job Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Accumulate, analyze, and process financial accounting data in order to prepare tax returns, estimated tax payments, forecasts and financial accounting estimates of tax  
  • Prepare and file federal, state and local tax returns for partnerships and individuals  
  • Assist the tax manager with gathering information and drafting a response for various IRS and state notices received by our clients  
  • Gather financial information and prepare tax filings for various reporting requirements (Form 1099-MISC, Form 1042, and FBAR filings)  
  • Ensure client adherence to compliance-related deadlines such as extensions, tax estimate requirements, tax return filings and other tax related services  
  • Maintain communications with Tax, A&A personnel, and Fund Administration on engagements regarding identified and ongoing tax issues  
  • Understand and research basic to moderately complex tax concepts and their application to client situations; communicate results with client after review with superiors  
  • Assist with the development of in-house tax training programs  
  • Participate in trade, industry or professional groups including leadership positions providing the opportunity for professional growth and promotion of firm services  
  • Identify expanded service opportunities with existing clients through client peer networking and communicate to superiors  
  • Develop and nurture external referral networks for prospective clients

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required  
  • CPA Certification with a Master’s of Science in Taxation a plus  3-5 years professional tax experience with an emphasis on hedge fund/private equity and demonstrating a progression in complexity and scope of tax matters with increasing supervisory responsibilities
  • Experience with CCH Pro System FX preferred and/or strong QuickBooks skills
  • Experience with Individual tax returns to high-net-worth clients a plus  Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
